The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office received a new piece of technology for its new jail today courtesy of a local manufacturing company, Denray Machine, Inc.

This new piece of equipment is called a "Down Draft Drug Table".  It is the first of its kind designed specifically for jail settings.  It's purpose is to remove contaminants from a person and their property before being processed into the jail.

When a person is taken into custody and they are suspected of possibly being contaminated with a known or unknown substance, they can then go inside a "locker" type area and the machine works to remove even the smallest particles, down to .2 microns, from the person, clothing and other items such as bags, back packs, etc.

The machine was designed around removing dangerous drug residue such as fentanyl from a person without exposing staff.

By doing this before the subject enters the jail area, it can prevent that subject from bringing additional contaminants that could harm other inmates and jailers.

This new equipment comes at a perfect time as the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office prepares to open it's new state of the art jail and Sheriff's Office in the coming days.

Denray Machine, Inc. is a local business in Lawrence County who has been in business for 37 years.  They have manufactured products similar to this for other industries and have now begun manufacturing for law enforcement and emergency services.
