On Tuesday evening July 30, 2024 Lawrence County Deputies were called to assist the Verona Police Department with a possible stabbing in the City of Verona.

Deputies responded to find a male subject apparently deceased in a vehicle located on the property.  Deputies also located a person of interest in regards to the death.

That subject was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.

That subject Randall L Conklin, 24 of Verona has now been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action and is being held in the Lawrence County Jail without bond.

The victim in this incident has been identified as Izri Isai Estrada-Cifuentes, 24 of Marionville.

An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week for the official cause of death but preliminary investigation shows the victim suffered a stab wound near the neck/chest area.

The Sheriff assures everyone that there is no further danger to the public as the parties involved were known to each other.

This is still an ongoing investigation.  All parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
