Lawrence County Sheriff's Office to Host Law Enforcement Academy

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office will be hosting a 700 basic law enforcement academy at the Sheriff's Office in Mt. Vernon beginning August 14, 2014.

This academy is sponsored by the Missouri Sheriff's Association and will be approximately 10 months long.  The class will meet on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and Saturday's and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Graduates will have a Class A Missouri Peace Officer License as well as certifications in several law enforcement areas.  Those certifications include First Responder, Less Lethal, Driving, Taser, SFST, Firearms, Jailer Certification, and others.

Those interested can download a fillable form from the Missouri Sheriff's Association website by following the below steps:

1.  Go to www.mosheriffs.com

2.  Select "Training Academy" from the top of the screen.

3.  Scroll down to "select location"

4.  Select "Mt. Vernon" as the training site.

5.  Click on "Go"

6.  Click on the "Application Process" link

This will allow you to download the needed forms.  Registrations must be received no later than July 14, 2014.  Financial Aid is available to those who qualify.
