Law Enforcement and Cattleowners to Meet to Discuss Rustling

01/31/2013

Area law enforcement and cattle owners will be meeting on Thursday February 7, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the University of Missouri Research Center located on H highway just south of Mt. Vernon to discuss the recent rash of cattle thefts in the area.

On Thursday January 31, 2013 area Sheriff's Offices, Prosecutors from Dade and Lawrence County, and the Highway Patrol Rural Crimes Task Force met at the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office to discuss recent thefts and trends concerning cattle rustling in the area.

As a result of that meeting, many of the offices will be meeting with area residents on the 7th of February to answer questions and concerns of area farmers.  A meeting was held recently with the Southwest Missouri Cattleman's Association and Law Enforcement in which information was passed on to both the cattle owners and law enforcement.
