Man Charged in Shooting Incident Near Mt. Vernon

A suspect has been charged regarding a shooting incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday May 5, 2012 near Mt. Vernon.

Deputies and Mt. Vernon Police responded to a call of a person being shot at a residence near Mt. Vernon at approx. 6:30 a.m. on the 5th.  Deputies and Police arrived and located a victim who had been shot in the arm.  According to the victim and witness the suspect then fled into a wooded area near the residence.

A search was conducted of the area with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and their helicopter.  While conducting the search a phone call was received that the suspect was possibly located at a residence in Pierce City.

Pierce City PD along with Monett PD located the residence in Pierce City and contact was made with the suspect.  The suspect surrendered to authorities without incident.

The victim was transported to a Springfield hospital with non life threatening injuries and later released.

Charged in the incident is 56 year old Dennis H. Webb of Pierce City.  His charges include 1st Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action and is currently being held at the Lawrence County Jail on $150,000.00 bond.
