Sheriff's Office Receives Grant for Meth Investigator

10/26/2010

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office announces that it has received a grant to hire a full time officer to combat the methamphetamine epidemic.  The Sheriff's Office had previously received this grant for several years but last year, due to federal and state budget cuts, the grant was not renewed for any Sheriff's Office in the state.

Despite this set back, the Sheriff's Office continued its fight against methamphetamine with the hard work and dedication of deputies who were already busy with many other tasks.  Because of that hard work and continued effort, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was selected to receive the grant this year despite budget cuts to continue the fight.

The investigator will focus on methamphetamine crime in Lawrence County.  This with the new NPLEX system will provide Lawrence County with valuable resources to fight methamphetamine.
