Sheriff's Office conduts DWI Enforcement

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office is participating in the nation wide You Drink & Drive, You Lose campaign.  The past weekend, August 20 & 21, the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Monett Police Department, Southwest Missouri DWI Task Force, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted several enforcement details.

These details consisted of two DWI checkpoints and saturation patrols.  During this enforcement, 10 persons were arrested for suspicion of DWI at the checkpoints, and 7 persons were arrested for suspicion of DWI as a result of the saturation patrols.  Numerous citations were also issued for speeding, no insurance, failure to register a motor vehicle, driving while suspended/revoked and speeding.  Three subjects were also arrested for outstanding warrants.  One arrest was made for possession of a controlled substance.

The following agencies participated in the two night event, Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, Monett Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, DWI Task Force members including, Carthage PD, Joplin PD, Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Webb City PD, Carterville PD, Barton County Sheriff's Office, and Mother's Against Drunk Driving.

These details were funded in part by Missouri Department of Transportation grants.  The goal of the details is to make Missouri Roadways safer for the public and remove intoxicated drivers from Missouri roadways.
