Sheriff's Office receives recognition for fight against meth.

03/15/2010

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office received recognition from the Missouri Sheriff's Meth-Amphetamine Relief Team (MOSMART) for its efforts to combat meth in Lawrence County.

The Sheriff's Office was recognized by MOSMART as being in the top 6 Sheriff's Offices in the state for reporting lab and equipment seizures.  Agencies under the MOSMART grant reported seizing 279 meth labs, 828 suspects arrested for manufacturing, attempting to manufacture, distribution of meth, and/or possession of meth.  There were also 15 suspects arrested for thefts of anhydrous ammonia.

While no Sheriff's Office was awarded a MOSMART grant for 2010, Sheriff DeLay is promising to keep up the fight against meth in Lawrence County by using available resources.
